Troubleshooting

Dribble, froth, leaks, stuck cartridges, weird pours.

9 times out of 10 it's CO₂ not seating. (1) Check the cartridge is tightened until you hear hiss-then-stop. If it just keeps hissing, the seal isn't seating, back it off and re-tighten. If it never hisses, the cartridge isn't being pierced. (2) Check the keg isn't past the max-fill line, too full and there's no headspace for pressure. If both look right and it's still dribbling, the tap assembly may have a stuck o-ring, email us, we'll ship a replacement under warranty.

Regulator settling. After piercing a fresh cartridge, give it 30-60 seconds before pouring, pressure spikes initially, drops, then stabilises. Quick fix: gently pull the relief valve to vent, wait a minute, pour at a 45° angle into a chilled glass. If foam persists across multiple pours, the regulator may be sticky from shipping. Replacement is free under warranty.

An o-ring in the tap assembly has likely come loose during shipping or first install. Two-minute fix: vent the keg (pull tap until empty of pressure), then re-seat the tap a quarter turn tighter. If it persists, the seal needs replacing, we'll ship a new tap assembly under warranty. Don't worry about losing the rest of the keg in the meantime; you can refrigerate the whole thing.

Tanky maintains temperature, it doesn't chill from warm. Pre-chilling your drink for at least 2 hours before filling makes the biggest difference. You can also add ice to the tank (just keep 10-15% headspace) for extra cold time on hot days.

Check the cartridge is properly seated (hiss-then-stop) and that you're turning the gauge the right direction. If the needle stays flat with a confirmed good cartridge, the regulator may be faulty, email us and we'll send a replacement under warranty.

Back the cartridge off completely, then re-thread it slowly by hand until you feel the thread catch. Don't cross-thread or use pliers. Once seated, twist until you hear a short hiss that stops. If it hisses continuously, the seal isn't catching. Try a fresh cartridge. If the same thing happens with multiple cartridges, the piercing pin may be misaligned. Email us, we'll send a replacement head under warranty.

The tank needs headspace for CO₂ pressure to build. Pour out enough liquid to sit below the max-fill line (roughly 200ml for the 2L, 500ml for the 5L). Then gas it. Overfilling is the most common first-time mistake and doesn't damage anything.

First fill after unboxing can pick up a faint metallic taste from manufacturing residue. Rinse the tank and tap line with warm soapy water, flush with clean water twice, then fill. If the taste persists on your second fill, the o-ring seal may need replacing. Email us and we'll sort it under warranty.

Sugar residue from cocktails or juice can make the tap mechanism sticky over time. After every session, run warm water through the tap line until it flows clear. For a deep clean, soak the tap head in warm soapy water for 10 minutes and work the handle back and forth. If it's stiff from day one, the assembly may need re-seating. Email us.

One 16g cartridge should last a full 2L fill (10-12 pours). If you're running out mid-keg: (1) Make sure you're not over-pouring the relief valve. (2) Check the seal is hiss-then-stop, not a constant leak. (3) Don't re-gas a half-empty tank, you're pressurising headspace with no liquid to push. Fill fresh, gas once, pour until empty.
